One of my favorite days of the whole year. I started the day grilling and making a big fancy salad for lunch, with watermelon radishes and kumquats. I listened to John Lucas music. I noticed the strange light as the eclipse started. I welcomed a friend over and we ate lunch in the yard and drank Mexican Sprite, watching the surreal light change. We weren’t even in the path of totality, and this still felt like one of the coolest experiences. I noticed how aware it made me of the solar system and universe. What a day.
